The Layer That Nutrition Can't Reach (And Why I Practice Both)
On the surface, nutrition and reiki look like they belong in different rooms. One is clinical, the other energetic. But in practice, they're the same conversation - just from two different directions.

I get this question a lot. Usually it's some version of: "So you do nutrition and reiki? How does that work together?"
I understand the confusion. On the surface, they look like they belong in different rooms. One is clinical. The other is energetic. One lives in lab values and supplement protocols. The other lives in breath and body sensation and things that are harder to name.
But in practice? They're the same conversation. Just from two different directions.
The body is one thing
Here's what I've come to understand, both through my training and through my own healing: the body doesn't separate the physical from the energetic the way we do. Your gut doesn't know the difference between inflammation from food and tension from grief you've been carrying for three years. Your nervous system doesn't care whether it was the gluten or the argument that triggered the flare. It all lands in the same body.
So when I work with a woman, I'm not switching hats between nutritionist and energy practitioner. I'm looking at one picture through two lenses. And what I see through one almost always illuminates what I'm seeing through the other.
Where nutrition hits a wall
I've watched women do everything right on paper. Clean diet. Quality supplements. Consistent routines. And still feel stuck.
That used to confuse me. It doesn't anymore.
Because here's what I've learned: you can eat the most nutrient-dense meal of your life, but if your nervous system is locked in survival mode, your body cannot properly digest or absorb it. Stress shuts down the parasympathetic state your gut needs to function. Your stomach acid drops. Your motility slows. The nutrients pass through without ever getting where they need to go.
No supplement protocol can override a body that doesn't feel safe enough to receive.
This is where reiki enters. Not as a replacement for the physical work, but as the thing that makes the physical work possible. When the nervous system settles, digestion comes back online. Absorption improves. The supplements you've been faithfully taking actually start doing their job.
Where reiki hits a wall
And the reverse is also true. I've sat with women during energy sessions and felt real shifts happen. Tension releases. Breath deepens. Something opens that was closed. But if her body is depleted at a cellular level, if she's low in magnesium and zinc and her fatty acid balance is off, she doesn't have the raw materials to sustain that shift.
You can't meditate your way out of a mineral deficiency. The body needs physical building blocks to rebuild. It needs protein and fat and micronutrients to actually repair tissue, produce hormones, support neurotransmitter function. Energy work can open the door. But nutrition is what walks through it.
They're not two modalities. They're one practice.
What I've found is that these two things create a feedback loop. When the nervous system calms down through energy work, the gut starts working better. When the gut works better and nutrient status improves, the body has more capacity to process and integrate the emotional and energetic patterns that were holding things in place.
Gut health affects emotional processing. Emotional processing affects gut health. Trying to address one without the other is like tending half a garden and wondering why the whole thing isn't thriving.
What this looks like in real life
A woman comes to me with chronic bloating, fatigue, and anxiety that won't quit. On the nutrition side, I see signs of low stomach acid, poor fat digestion, and blood sugar instability. On the energetic side, she's holding tension in her solar plexus, her breath barely reaches below her chest, and there's a pattern of not being able to receive. Not just food. Anything.
Those aren't separate problems. That's one story her body is telling through two languages.
So we work both layers. We support her digestion with targeted nutrition and supplementation. And we work with the energetic pattern of tension and guarding that's been keeping her gut locked up in the first place. One without the other would only get her halfway.
Why I practice both
Honestly? Because I needed both.
My own healing didn't move forward until I stopped treating my body like a machine that just needed better inputs. The nutrition piece was essential. But so was the part where I learned to slow down, to feel what I was carrying, to let my nervous system remember what safety felt like.
That's what I offer the women I work with. Not one or the other. The whole picture. The physical side starts with five foundations that I assess with every client.
Because your body isn't a collection of parts to be optimized. It's one living, intelligent, interconnected system. And it deserves to be met that way.
